Paramount’s Multiplatform Production Group, an in-house production company, was producing nearly 600 projects a year — totaling 2500+ individual shoot days — all around the world. The problem? This data was never properly tracked. What’s more, each small producing team nestled within the nearly 100-person department had a different system for keeping track of their productions.

Leveraging the software Airtable, I designed and built a bespoke project management interface for the entire department to track all their productions in real time. My team and I developed training sessions and continually iterated on real-time feedback to maximize the tool’s usage within the group.

The collected data of each project allowed senior leadership to make more informed staffing decisions, allocate funding in areas of need, and lean into client relationships with the knowledge of exactly how much money the group was saving them.

The system flourished, allowing interconnectivity between projects, schedules, rolodexes (locations, crew, vendors, etc.), and accounting. Information sharing and reporting became more efficient, transparent and money was saved as a result.
